An intense journey for students from Israel and other countries, who wish to study the history of the Jewish community of Poland – otherwise known as Po-Lan-Ya, a name that reflects the development and expansion of the community over hundreds of years until their mass extermination during the Holocaust.Parallel to our involvement in the events of the Holocaust, we will also review the make-up and nature of the Jewish communities, and their daily lives and norms both in the cities and in the townships (Shtetlach). We will study the centrality of tradition in the life of the community, and the place of role models and legendary leadership. We will research the contrasts of ideas and concepts between the Jewish world of the past and that of the student settings of today.
There will be interactive themed activities throughout the seminar.
